A friend from Florida who visited Juneau last summer rang to tell me that her husband had passed away of cancer, he was not feeling well during their visit and returned home for the news. Her family plans to visit this summer so sussed out the airbnb she will rent.

Very cold and high wind warning but did take short walk to post office in the sunshine then afternoon of paperwork and taxes.

The snow has returned but only in inches not in feet! Research at the library for someone enquiring about their ancestors house here then evening fundraiser for our new Juneau Independent newspaper.

Happy Prez Day! And a gorgeous sunny very cold day with new snow very low on the mountains. Those of us who volunteered this past summer for tourism are having our potluck today and to commiserate the end of our volunteer days, some after over forty years of service. Our tourism agency will now hire and pay folks to greet our visitors at the visitor centers.

Happy Valentine's Day! Not a heavy rain day so walked out Basin Road and returned along the flume which is now ice free! Decided to do a bit of food shopping cos another storm is moving in tonite.

Extra morning work at the Salvation Army to process several boxes of clothes from a woman who recently passed away, then afternoon massage, but not fun driving back in heavy rain and wind and dark.

Yoga and lunch at the senior center then afternoon at the dentist for permanent crown then evening gathering of folks in travel industry for drinks and snacks at Romas.

A friend and I had breakfast at Salt restaurant which normally only serves dinner but they have been doing an early meal for the past month. I then continued more research at the library then a walk on the docks in the rain, heaps of birds.

No rain, so morning walk on the seawalk and midday Juneau Jazz and Classics concert, then afternoon walk with friends on the dock.

Yoga and lunch at the senior center. Evening meeting of Historical Resources Advisory Committee to review a new project for downtown tourism, a big 'disneyland' building that simulates our outdoor wonders indoors, what a waste...finnsalaska.....financed by our local insurance agent.
