Early morning walk before the heat of the day and enjoyed the Sunday paper. My neighbor takes the Tampa newspaper and offered it to me when they are finished with it. It is now only published on Wednesday and Sunday even though you pay the same price as when it was published six or seven days. This is supposedly a temporary change due to the drop in advertising during the pandemic

Morning visit to assisted living to pay the bill, even though I cannot visit our mother, then shopping at Publix. Received mail from my aunt of documents she found in my uncle's stuff that included a letter, so spent the afternoon trying to determine the sender and recipient. Emails and telephone calls to other members of the family did not provide any clues.

Bicycled over to my friend Kim's and then we walked Walsingham Park, about five miles around the lake.

Overcast warm day so gave the pool a miss and attended zoom genealogy class learning about the Homestead Act and then teleconference with our mother's care team at her rehab center.

Another visit to the endodontist for more work on my root canal...he found another canal and ended up removing the crown and found a bit of decay underneath...and then the pain! On the return home I visited Tyrone Square mall where my mother and I shopped so many years ago. I did find a bicycle helmet at Dick's but their shelves were also empty of bikes and helmets then I walked the very empty indoor mall (cooler than outdoors).

Happy Memorial Day! My fitness club opened today but will give that a miss for a bit. Another day working at the office at the clubhouse.

Morning bike ride on the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail then time at the pool (water temp getting warmer at 85) and afternoon online class.

Visit to local mall to shop for bike helmet but none to be found (nor bicycles) at Target.

The local consignment shop has reopened so walked over to collect the few dollars we have made from our mother's dust collectors.

Morning root canal where they found a bit of infection in root so need to return in a week to finish! Good thing that I drove there early because big thunderstorm with wind and rain arrived, then left.

After morning walk, a time for swim in the pool with water at 80 degrees, really do notice how much warmer the water is!

Rains were predicted for today but just an overcast day, we do need the rain! Class via zoom with the Largo library genealogy group learning about the Pilgrims.

What we thought was a sink hole on the property was really a long time water pipe leak so our water was turned off for a few hours for repair so spent time at the pool.

Walk to dentist for teeth cleaning and have found that I do need a root canal so made appointment for Monday.

Bike ride on the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail! This almost forty mile rail trail is between Tarpon Springs in the north to St Petersburg and it is only about half mile from here.

Early morning visit to Whole Foods and Sprouts for organic veggies and fruit. Whole Foods opens at 7am for us oldies and I was the only one there! Gorgeous sunny day for pool time.

Our mother has been in the hospital so spent time reviewing her status and deciding on where she should go for rehab.

A neighbor arranged for her hair stylist to cut our hairs today in the outdoor area by the pool/clubhouse for $15, much needed by me because no haircut for over two months...what a great feeling to have it all gone!

I had joked with our neighbor a few months back about his fold-up bicycle collecting dust in his closest these past many years so this morning he drove it down to the local car wash to put air in the tires and gave it to me to ride!

Gorgeous day at the pool! Since my travels in Ethiopia in 1999, I have enjoyed eating Teff cereal, a bit like a porridge or cream of wheat. Teff is the smallest grain in the world originating in Africa thousands of years ago and very nutritious. I purchased some Teff flour on my last shopping trip and started the makings of teff bread (injera) today, just mix water and teff flour and let it sit of three days, then fry it! I remember at the end of my one year of travel through the Middle East and Africa back in 2000, how much I looked forward to having a loaf of baked bread vs the flat bread I had lived on for so long.

Wonderful walkabout at Weedon Island Preserve where I saw heaps of birds and a gopher tortoise slowly crawling out of his burrow.  The gopher tortoise is one of the oldest living animals on earth, with many living to eighty years of age or older. Then visit to periodontist who recommended that I visit endodontist.

...and another gorgeous day at the pool after morning walk listening to song of cardinal....then continued to work in the condo office sorting out stuff. I was given an envelope of obituary clippings by one of my mother's neighbors so I scanned them all for future safe keeping.

Another gorgeous day to enjoy the pool although a few more people arrived by midday so spent time with neighbor Becky in the condo office cleaning out some of the files and scanning documents. One neighbor had records of original owners from when these were built in 1971.

Happy May Day! Morning walk to CVS to fetch antibiotics for teeth then enjoyed the pool for the first time in over a month! Pinellas County allowed the opening of pools yesterday with some restrictions, but since I was the only one at the pool, there was not an issue in overcrowding. Gorgeous sunny day with temps in 70's.
