30 June 2020 Tuesday - Largo Florida
Morning walk on the beach with my friend Kim, going to be another very hot and humid day! A large area of the beach was roped off for the nesting black skimmers near the Seabird Sanctuary.
29 June 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
Morning walk then doing errands, found some rocks at Lowe's to fill in the holes in mum's backyard. Afternoon genealogy finding more connections for adoptees!
28 June 2020 Sunday - Largo Florida
Cleaning house, washing clothes, and doing a bit of cooking, then enjoying Endeavour on PBS!
27 June 2020 Saturday - Largo Florida
Stocking up at Whole Foods and Sprouts then midday safe gathering at the clubhouse for celebration of life for Tom who passed away a few months back. He was very active in this community and we were joined by members of his family including his wife and two sons from northern states.
26 June 2020 Friday - Largo Florida
Sahara dust makes for a hazy hot humid day! Early morning walk while it is cooler then swim in the pool but way to warm at 90 degrees!
25 June 2020 Thursday - Largo Florida
Final crown on back molars but still have the numb tongue!
24 June 2020 Wednesday - Largo Florida
Morning yoga with Doug but not via zoom this time but at the studio...I spoke with the owner and she is taking all the extra precautions but I do need to buy my own mat.
23 June 2020 Tuesday - Largo Florida
Spectrum outage early this morning (no internet, no phone, no cable tv) so 6am walkabout before arrival of aircon maintenance guy at 8am who did not arrive until 9am! There have been ongoing problems with aircon thermostat but the visit in April by the maintenance guy Dave did not fix it so got the more competent Bruce to do the work today properly and install new thermostat, one month out of the March warranty! Another great DNA user group gathering via zoom in the afternoon.
And very busy with the big trucks in the parking lots delivering tiles for the new roofs....good thing that I did not drive anywhere today.
22 June 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
Finally found someone to give me decent color and cut to my hairs, then visit to mum's place to deliver a few things that she requested.
21 June 2020 Sunday - Largo Florida
Happy Father's Day! Finally mustered up the energy to wash my van, the top gets so dirty and I no longer like climbing the ladder to clean it...but now it is done and looks great!
20 June 2020 Saturday - Largo Florida
Happy Solstice!
Morning walk then swim in the pool then help folks tear out the very old rug (1984) in the office of the clubhouse. The linoleum underneath is still in good condition because they had just laid the rug on the top with tape only on the edges.
When I opened my seven year old Lenovo IdeaPad on Thursday, the hinges crackled and broke on one side...a very strange sound...but it is still working! I found that this has been a known design problem since 2008 but they did nothing to fix it! I had purchased a new laptop last year but had not totally converted to it...guess that I will now! So spent the afternoon perusing and backing up my files to move to the new computer and then made banana bread to share with my neighbors.
19 June 2020 Friday - Largo Florida
It has been quite some time since I visited Target so stocked up on the basics then stopped at Frida's European Patisserie, recommended to me by my friend Kim, which is just down the street from the mall and brought home some delicious pastries. My father's brother passed away last week so attended the funeral in Minnesota via Zoom!
18 June 2020 Thursday - Largo Florida
Joined the local ladies for morning water aerobics at the pool, quite fun! Then the neighbor came over to change the water filter in the refrigerator and we ended up pulling out the fridge and me cleaning everything behind it, very dirty!
17 June 2020 Wednesday - Largo Florida
Morning delivery of stuff to mum even though I still cannot visit her then time at the pool but shortened because someone's grandkids (three small boys) showed up and made way too much noise for me!
Kim and I shopped Sam's early at 7am then a walk on the Indian Rocks beach. We found several areas where sea turtles have laid eggs (nesting season 1 May til 1 October). Nesting staff monitor the beach daily for new eggs and rope them off to avoid human disturbance. Kemp’s Ridley and Loggerhead turtles are protected under state and federal law and disturbing their nests is illegal. Then coffee and croissant at Cafe de Paris.
15 June 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
Morning bike ride on the Pinellas Trail then chopped up veggies for crock pot stew! Heaps of noise from roofers doing the building next door.
14 June 2020 Sunday - Largo Florida
Gorgeous day for time at the pool
Heavy morning rain with heaps of thunder but went ahead and did my early morning shopping at Whole Foods and Sprouts. Whole Foods is gradually going back to normal hours because the early 7am senior opening is no longer for seven days but for M W F only starting Monday.
11 June 2020 Thursday - Largo Florida
The backdoor of my van will not open from the inside so drove it to local auto repair shop and then walked the three miles back and will await their call. Morning swim in the pool
10 June 2020 Wednesday - Largo Florida
Morning walk then dropped a few items at the consignment shop that just reopened (had to book appointment for today almost two weeks ago!). Also stopped at the thrift shop at the local church and found another set of queen sheets for my mother in case any more go missing. My mother had her hair done today...the beautician is now back working at the ALF
9 June 2020 Tuesday - Largo Florida
Morning body imaging at medical center. I had wanted to also have blood lab work done but they no longer take appointments and you must wait over two hours so will wait and see if that changes.
8 June 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
Another two hours in the dental chair for prep and fitting for double crown!
7 June 2020 Sunday - Largo Florida
Spent most of day doing research for an adopted friend of mine. Found a new dna match to an unknown child of his grandfather!
6 June 2020 Saturday - Largo Florida
Very heavy rain all day so not a day for a walkabout...watched the new Genetic Detective show this morning, then finished reading a book, then did a bit of cooking, then vacuum and dust the house and reorganize some files...quite a productive day!
5 June 2020 Friday - Largo Florida
After morning walk, spent time visiting with the neighbors and then my friend Kim brought over some bins that she had cleaned out which I may use to stow hurricane prep stuff.
4 June 2020 Thursday - Largo Florida
Morning shopping at Nature's Food Patch (enjoyed a great smoothie) where I had shopped many years ago before Whole Foods and Sprouts had opened. I visited here today because it is close to where I met my mother for her eye doctor appointment. Even though we are not allowed to visit family at the assisted living, we are allowed to see them if they are "off campus" for an appointment.
3 June 2020 Wednesday - Largo Florida
The library opened this week so time for a visit then a walk in the Largo Nature Reserve park.
2 June 2020 Tuesday - Largo Florida
Morning "hurricane prep" shopping at Sam's and Walmart with my friend Kim. Florida has seven day tax holiday this week where there is no sales tax on hurricane prep items.
1 June 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
Gosh, already the start of another month!!! I had root canal work done last Tuesday but my tongue is still numb one week later, which I guess does sometimes occur when the needle hits that nerve on the lower jaw. I rang the endodontist to express my concern and went to his office for discussion and for anti inflammatory drug, hope that it works. Because it is difficult to chew without biting my tongue, I so looked forward to a milkshake when I saw the McDonalds on my way home but after standing in the queue for a bit, I found that they had no ice cream, bummer! But did find a book that I wanted at the Barnes and Noble just down the street. My van turned 209000 miles!
