Heavy rain and thunderstorm late evening into this morning so drove instead of walked to dental appointment to determine reason for tooth pain, and found that it is periodontal abscess! Now I need to see a periodontist!

Zooming with our genealogy DNA user group of about forty online! Another great educational session. The county has decided to open our pool on Thursday and the beaches on Monday.

An absolutely gorgeous day, cooler and no humidity! Morning delivery of stuff to our mother and then walkabout at Bonner Park where again there were heaps of cars (normally none) for folks doing an exercise class at the pavilion. Home for yoga class with Doug via zoom.

Spending time with folks in the condo association doing a cleanout of the office at the clubhouse.....finding all kinds of historical goodies from when these were built in the 1970's.

Happy DNA day! Discovery of the double helix structure in April 1953 and completion of Human Genome Project in 2003.....and discounts now being offered by many of the dna companies. The condo association bought a new computer with a printer so assisted them in setting it up with wifi in the office at the clubhouse.

Early morning thunderstorms with rain and a tornado watch, not a good day to venture out and about.

23 April 2020 Thursday - Largo Florida
Water is turned off for maintenance and electric is turned off to replace meters so after early morning walk, my neighbor and I drove to Bay Pines National Cemetery to photograph the gravestones of my mother's friends buried there.

22 April 2020 Wednesday - Largo Florida
Shopping at Whole Foods for early morning oldies at 7am, only two of us in the queue and they asked for ID, first time that I have been carded in years...and fresh produce had just been stocked! Petrol prices at $1.69 per gallon. My plans for this visit to Florida had been to spend time at the library doing research on our German ancestors, but all is closed, so went online to order a few of the German genealogy books and hopefully I will be able to break down that brick wall.

21 April 2020 Tuesday - Largo Florida
Shopping at Publix and Target for mum, very few people and no paper products, of course. Publix has marked the aisles with arrows to enforce one way traffic and most stores now have plexiglass at the checkout.

20 April 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
Another storm is brewing so early morning walk then signed up for afternoon Zoom Yoga with Doug, where I normally go in person in years past, so will see how this works. His class is now in the afternoon and I prefer morning, but it went well! Also made banana bread with my overripe bananas, I have not done this in years, and shared with the neighbors.

Morning walkabout then chat with a few neighbors also on a walk then fetched small footstool and gloves from my van and pulled weeds from the backyard. A landscaping company maintains most of the lawns and gardens of the condos but each unit has a small (2' x 9' strip, times two for our larger unit) in which folks can plant. My mother's has only rocks but a few weeds have grown through so may consider adding more rocks but not sure if this is essential shopping? The local homeowners association has been doing walkabouts sussing out everyone's backyards and they wanted to spray ours with Roundup, and I said no!

Another morning thunderstorm after morning walkabout then meeting online with our genealogy group for presentation on the history of the Mayflower on its 400th birthday.

Shopping at Publix for mum then did a drop off for her at the office of the assisted living. I met another woman doing the same and found that her mother has been here for ten years. Walkabout at Bonner Park and then a visit to the BofA nearby but it is now closed so drove to the one near the condo which is still open.

16 April 2020 Thursday - Largo Florida
Morning showers after walkabout then spent time on telephone connecting with cousins. One has just found that she has colon cancer that has spread to the liver but she sounded in good spirits. Rescheduled our mother's doctor appointments from April to May but still not sure if this has pushed it out far enough!

Still hot and humid and overcast but a few afternoon rain showers felt refreshing!

When I had my van at the shop one month ago, they had found very frayed lines for the aircon, which I do not normally use but had noticed problems with it the few times that I did use it....so took the van in to get it fixed and walked the three miles back....now I will be ready for the hot and humid summer of Florida which is where I may be sequestered for awhile!

Maintenance on the aircon unit for the house took about one hour with the guy cleaning both the outside and inside attic unit. Afternoon local genealogy group meeting (via gotomeeting) with DNA discussion, we had about thirty attendees, and we all expressed how we missed seeing each other in person!

Happy Easter, very much different for many folks around the world, but about the same for me as all my past Easters....just hanging out on my own with morning walkabout of the neighborhood.

Morning drive to Whole Foods which normally opens at 8am but found on their website that they open at 7am for us old folks and I was the only one there at 7am.....a few more folks had arrived before I left at 8. Most shelves were stocked except for paper products and the Italian sparkling water that I wanted to get, and they had no organic red capsicums so stopped at Sprouts for those.

Another grey day for maintenance man to do semi annual service on aircon unit this morning.....but cancelled last minute due to a commercial refrigeration outage! Now to wait around again on Monday morning! Decided to go for my delayed morning walkabout but then it poured down rain! So had a bite to eat and then the sun peaked through the clouds for a walk but much warmer midday than when I usually walk earlier.

Grey overcast day so after my morning walk I decided to drive to the now closed LDS Family History Library and sit in my van in parking lot to find records that can only be viewed at the family history centers due to copyright laws and it worked!

I had purchased a steel file cabinet at the thrift store about a month ago so finally spent the morning organizing my mother's paper files and then the afternoon organizing her digital files/photos and backing them up to send to my sister.

6 April 2020 Monday - Largo Florida
I delivered a care package at the office dropoff for mum at the assisted living since it has been two weeks since I have done this then walkabout at Bonner Park. This park is normally empty but today there were about a dozen cars and all these folks were having an exercise class in the pavillion so stayed away from their heavy breathing!

Morning walkabout then zoom class with Largo library genealogy folks. One of the many benefits that I have found staying here is the offering of so many genealogy classes at the Largo library but now with the library closed they have found an alternate way to do this. We had about 25 attendees and tis interesting that a few had moved away from area and had not attended recent classes but had remained on mailing list. This gave them the opportunity to get back in touch with the group!

After morning walkabout, spent a bit of time cleaning inside windows of van and spraying wd40 on the hinges, something that I have been meaning to do for several years! More time spent doing genealogy for neighbor!

Florida governor has issued a state wide state-at-home order, even though many counties have already had this in place. Gorgeous sunny day so off to Publix with mask and gloves to find bananas but they had none. After walkabout at Boca Ciega Millenium Park (playground closed and no one at the dog park), I drove to Target to find my organic bananas....seems like Target always has them and Publix does not. Great to open the windows and listen to the birds!

Cooler overcast morning then sunshine in afternoon. I opened the windows but had to close them again when the lawn maintenance guys arrived to make their noise and mow the lawn and blow the leaves. Washed my van again but very difficult to remove the tree sap from the rooftop!
