Plan for summer starting next week (12 June) is housesit for four months in Juneau....yay!!! I have stayed one month at the Juneau Hotel and it is SO noisy and the telephones have not worked for one week.

Morning workout at the gym then joined the ladies of Main Street last Friday of the month luncheon, although only three of us could make it then visit with my friend Katy for her to give to me some of all the goodies that she has been making.....a very rainy day!

Today's group hike is up to John Muir cabin but we have had quite a bit of rain and the trail up is a slippery boardwalk so some of us will do Salmon Creek dam instead.

Errand day with shopping for food and petrol in the van and pick up new spectacles and receive new drivers license in the mail at the post office....then a bit of a walkabout downtown. I enjoy the quiet of my housesit in Douglas but do miss just being able to walk downtown Juneau because now I must drive to Juneau.

Hiked with the Friday group for exploratory hike at end of road to Sawmill Creek waterfall. We hiked along the boulder strewn beach and did a bit of bushwacking in the woods to find a field of gorgeous wildflowers: iris, lupine, chocolate lily, shooting stars, geranium, buttercup, orchid....and then found the wonderful waterfall!

Happy Solstice! Dental appointment to remove crown that was installed 1986 and to remove decay that has grown underneath with followup for root canal.

Parks and Rec hike up the hill to the ridge at Eaglecrest Ski Area....we started at the Lodge at 1130' and hiked to Pittman Ridge at 2750' with views of Lynn Canal and Admiralty Island, another very warm and sunny day, about six miles return. Record high temperature of 85 degrees and the third highest temperature ever recorded in the capital city since 1936 and the warmest day in five years.

The rains have returned in full force! Morning workout at the gym then coffee with woman for whom I will be housesitting to get the keys....I was not happy to hear that she had just had a bear hanging out on her deck!

Another sunny day in Juneau....then late afternoon wind and bits of rain! First Friday walkabout with the opening of the exhibit Titanic of the North at the State Museum, the story of the sinking of the Princess Sophia on 25 October 1918.
