30 June 2012 Saturday
Hike in the rain at the Eaglecrest ski area....but too much snow on trail (and heaps of fog) to make it to the top....where is all the sun that we had last summer?
27 June 2012 Wednesday
Hike in the rain to Dan Moller cabin at about 1800 feet and still snow on the trail!
25 June 2012 Monday
The rains have returned with heavy fog....actually a bit refreshing after the hot and sunny days!
24 June 2012 Sunday
More sunshine so spent time cleaning out my van...I have been in Juneau for two months now and have been too busy hiking and enjoying time with my friends....now I must make time to get ready to be on the road again (hopefully by August)! I borrowed a rug cleaner to finally get rid of that Mexican dust!
23 June 2012 Saturday (Juneau Alaska)
Sunshine and close to 80 degrees....what a surprise! I gave the hike a miss today to take a free boat ride out to Spuhn Island (formerly a fox farm) for free lunch and tour....a local couple bought the island (about 160 acres) nine years ago and subdivided part of it into 2 acre parcels (38 of them) for resale (but no purchase by me!).
20 June 2012 Wednesday
I am hike leader today and the sun is trying to stay out so called the East Glacier Trail (near the Mendenhall Glacier) which we continued on to Vista Creek via the Nugget Creek trail (about 8 miles total).....a very good day and even saw bear and porcupine!
13 June 2012 Wednesday
The Wednesday hike is Perseverance Trail to Granite Basin....
10 June 2012 Sunday ... a rainy day
Morning work for the visitor's bureau at the kiosk downtown, greeting tourists off the cruise ships.
9 June 2012 Saturday ... a sunny day
The Saturday hike was to Point Bridget State Park to Cowee cabin and the water then via Cedar Lake to Campers Cove for lunch at the cabin on the water then back through the woods for about 7 mile hike. Then a potluck at Eagle Beach shelter to celebrate Carolyn Gould's 70th birthday.
