23 Juneau 2026 Tuesday - Juneau Alaska
Had local maintenance man assess bathroom plumbing which is probably original 30 year old so he will replace everything, so nice to have someone else do the work at no charge to me.

Errand day!

21 June 2026 Sunday - Juneau Alaska, Happy Solstice!
Met my cousin and his wife and her daughter with husband at the dock of their cruise ship and we boarded the bus to take to our boat at Adlersheim, about one hour out the road (with stop to view glacier from Brotherhood Bridge). Only 35 of us on 49 passenger boat Pharos with first stop to view the sea lions on Benjamin Island then to Sentinel Island where we disembarked to walk up the ramp to the lighthouse. I first visited this lighthouse about 30 years ago when the local historical society took on the task to renovate and there was only a falling apart dock and a climb up some rocks, so different today. And then back out to sea where we saw heaps of humpback whales, what fun. And even better, it was a warm sunny day, so unusual here in Southeast Alaska. And then a bit of a driveabout of Juneau before returning to the ship for their journey to Skagway, Hoonah, Vancouver.

Afternoon barbq at Twin Lakes, one year anniversary for our newest online newspaper the Juneau Independent.

19 June 2026 Friday - Juneau Alaska
Juneteenth so Salvation Army closed, instead, morning visit for annual eye checkup and all is well. A very sunny unusually warm day, so nice looking out one of my windows that faces a slope now full of wild flowers, when I moved in it was multicolor autumn leaves, then became a white blanket of snow! Afternoon visit with friends at Pioneer Home for ice cream.

14 June 2026 Sunday - Juneau Alaska
Because the Salvation Army is closed next week, decided to help out to reduce the backlog of donations plus process stuff of another friend who is selling his house. Lunch at the annual block party bbq at the local church.

Another sunny day in Juneau! Enjoyed a bit of sun on the back patio.

1 June 2026 Monday - Juneau Alaska
Gorgeous sunny day for lunch with friends at the Rookery then downtown walkabout. Spent the morning with the GCI tech guy trying to fix my internet access...part of our problem in Juneau in summer is that all the cruise ship visitors use up all our bandwidth....we will have 1.7 million visitors this summer between May and October.
