Clouds and rain have returned, just in time for my eye doctor appointment and dilated eyes!

Another sunny warm day for volunteer work at the visitor kiosk then two mile walk across bridge to visit my next housesit starting in July then was able to catch the bus back to town for stop at Cope Park for end of the Ridge Race, up Mt Juneau then down into Granite Basin (still has snow) then return along Perseverance Trail, a former hike for me but not a race for me now!

Sunny warm day for hike at Boys Scout Camp, heaps of wildflowers in the meadows and wonderful hike on the beach where we flew kites!

Happy Juneteenth, just when I planned to visit the bank, it is closed for another holiday! I posted a check to a friend here in Juneau from the post office at end of April and she never received it so need to cancel it and write a new one. Bear again frolicking in the yard!

Walk to yoga and lunch at the senior center then visit to dentist for adjustment to night guard after having a new filling in front tooth.

Warm sunny day with a bit of haze from either the pollen or wildfires. Nice bear in the yard today!

A surprise afternoon thunderstorm/tornado with wind broke the line for the cruise ship Celebrity Edge which drifted about in the harbor for a bit, good thing that it did not hit another ship nor houses on the shore!

Walk in the woods along the flume after a wander in the flats neighborhood for their free garage sale. In summer on sunny days on weekends, the flats neighborhood put free stuff on the street in front of their homes.

Happy Friday the Thirteenth! Morning volunteer work at Salvation Army then what I thought would be quick lunch at local cafe turned out to be twenty minute wait...so they gave to me a free flan which I shared with my friend who I visited to help her with her computer.

Midday haircut then a filling fell out from behind my front tooth, thank goodness the dentist had time to put in new filling before their normal three day weekend, but now my new nightguard does not fit properly so will need to wait til next week for that fitting.

I gave yoga and senior lunch a miss for a wonderful hike in the sunshine and flowers at Point Bridget out the road...so many blooms.

Prediction is for sun, something that we have not seen much of in two months! Wonderful hike out Perseverance Trail, heaps of wildflowers. My phone charger has stopped working so walked down to visit local tech guy who has been in town forever. I have Belkin fast charger and usually use the usb-c bit for the phone but tried the usb-a bit for my camera and it worked, so he had adapter for the usb a to c and it now works, something is broken on the usb-c bit.

Morning massage then afternoon annual Medicare checkup. A big pile of bear poop appeared in the front yard during my absence! Operation Orca at the State Capitol building for three days, a military exercise of about 100 people which closed off the streets. They are staging a scenario involving an attack by fictitious Russia-based terrorists and involves the FBI, Border Patrol, Coast Guard, Army, local police and fire departments, and local governments.

Morning volunteer work at the visitor center kiosk downtown. We find that many cruise ship visitors stay on the ship on a cold wet day like today, they can say that they have been to Juneau and not get wet.

A busy day, firstly a visit to chiropractor, then volunteer at Salvation Army, then ice cream social at Pioneer Home, then happy hour at Riverview Senior Center, then First Friday walkabout downtown in the sunshine, what a nice change from the rains.

A very rainy day then a bit of clearing with a peeking of the sun. Morning yoga then food shopping.

4 June 2025 Wednesday - Juneau Alaska
Another rainy day for morning yoga and lunch at the senior center. Harvested rhubarb in the yard of my housesit.

3 June 2025 Tuesday - Juneau Alaska
Arrival in Juneau just after midnight so time for snooze at the airport. My housesit begins tonite so no home to which to return and nothing open til 530 when I had a coffee then met friend for breakfast and drove her to airport. Joined friends for hike at Kingfisher Pond then to storage unit to retrieve a few items.

Flight delayed due to disruption in the crew's travel but still made the connection to Juneau, although no time to relax in the lounge.

1 June 2025 Sunday - Cary North Carolina
The local church honored the high school and college graduates during their morning service. We then enjoyed Smithfield bbq at the youngest daughter's family home in the country.
