Happy Seward's Day, a state holiday that commemorates signing of Alaska purchase 1867 (Seward's Folly)! Pancake breakfast at the Senior Center with heaps of friends then drive about twenty miles out the road for hike at Auke Rec area to Point Louisa, beautiful sunshine on the water with a bit of wind.

Another foggy morning then clearing midday for blue skies. Yoga then lunch then walkabout on the wetlands trail.

Foggy morning walk at the glacier with our Tuesday group, then clearing for wonderful views of snow capped mountains and the glacier. Enjoyed the kittiwakes among the rock walls near Nugget Falls. The news from yesterday is that two men fell through the thin ice near the glacier and were rescued, with all this warming, they should have known better.

Wonderful walk at the glacier to the Nugget Falls and Photo Point and Steep Creek. The visitor center is open on Friday and Saturday in winter so interesting discussion with those who remain as to what will happen with no staff for the summer prediction of 1.7 million visitors.

Morning volunteer work at Salvation Army then ice cream with friends at Pioneer Home and enjoyed Tom playing the piano. Happy hour at Riveriview Senior Center with more friends, deep fried mac and cheese and tapenade and cheese stuffed dates.

Happy Equinox/Spring! Morning massage and chiro adjustment then home to fill the car with more donations for Salvation Army tomorrow, this time from my landlord's co-owner who passed away last autumn and in whose apartment I am now staying...heaps of her clothes...kinda like our mother with many never worn! Then back to Twin Lakes to hang out with the swans before they continue their journey. Check out ebird dot org.

A bit of sun today so decided it was time for a car wash. My last commercial car wash was in Whitehorse last May and then did a handwash last summer at my housesit. We have one car wash in Juneau which I have never used but it worked. Instead of your car moving through the machinery, the car sits still and the machinery moves around the car. It looks so much better! I even opened the sunroof as I drove away!

Another very cold and clear day! Afternoon lyric opera production of Die Fledermaus, wonderful.

Happy Ides of March! Cold and clear day. Midday visit to the library then walk along the cruise ship docks before they become congested in just one month with ships and tourists. I had considered attending a childrens play Necessary Nonsense at the local public radio station studio but instead did a walk along Twin Lakes in the sun where I had heard the swans were hanging out, and they were, yippee!, four of them. Initially they had their tails up with heads under water (must be some good feeding), then they all lined up and paddled together across the lake, very picturesque.

Happy Pi Day! Morning volunteer work at Salvation Army then lunch with friends at Chan's Thai Kitchen Auke Bay. A bit of a chilly windy but sunny walk along the waterfront.

Cold and sunny! Met friend for lunch at Grumpys, he got a reuben and I got a tuna melt, then nice walk in the sun on the wetlands trail. Evening viewing of the lunar eclipse.

Visited friend at 19 mile who is in process of getting her home of sixty years ready to sell and trying to divest herself of stuff which I am taking to Salvation Army for her. I then decided to drive to the end of the road with several stops enroute. I usually do this in summer but with all the rain, most of the snow is gone.

I had been looking for old ads/commercials from a local coffee shop in which my friend had participated back in the 1980s. I found a tape in January and finally found someone who had just ordered the monster u-matic box on which we could read it but it was not the tape we wanted. They have since found more so time will tell! Check out takufortwo youtube channel for their work.
