13 December 2024 Friday - Juneau Alaska
A shorter time working at Salvation Army then met friends for lunch. I have been researching our sister city trip to Vladivostok in 1991 and found that one of those who went kept a diary which he had typed, 26 pages, wonderful memories. Afternoon massage then snacks at the Riverview senior center. My masseuse offered to put me on her phone plan and she was able to get a free phone, not a bad deal, except that I now have to succumb to the world of the mobile phone, we will see how long this will last!
12 December 2024 Thursday - Juneau Alaska

2 December 2024 Monday - Juneau Alaska
Snowed all night now sleet turning to rain with everything an icy mess! Many businesses and schools closed as was my PT so another day to stay home and continue research, at least we have electric and internet!
1 December 2024 Sunday - Juneau Alaska
Fresh snow this morning and more all day! And happy to have my car tucked away in a garage, although not heated, and to watch the owner plow the parking lot twice, once in the morning and once in the evening! After various attempts for the past week to connect with a woman (Anchorage lawyer) who has done heaps of research, I finally found her by finding a CV for her husband online with his telephone number listed! She has been in process of writing a book for past thirty years on the death penalty in Alaska, the last two men hanged in 1948 and 1950, most likely for a crime that they did not commit, but they were black. Very few whites have had the death penalty imposed. She had also presented on the red light district of Juneau in 1940's at a conference in Juneau in 2016.
