Morning walk on Treadwell Mine trail with the 'renegade' hikers, those of us who have been hiking together for many years but like to have a slower pace...then a free lunch at the Mountain View Senior Center.

Morning research at the State Historical Library Archives with my friend from House of Wickersham then a visit to the City Museum to donate historical cookbook donated to Salvation Army. Friends are cleaning out the home of Renee/Penny Guerin/Blood who was born/raised in Juneau and went to New York to be an understudy for Mary Martin in Annie Get Your Gun and Sound of Music. It was her childhood dream to go on the Broadway stage. She passed away in June and left a house full of stuff so we are having fun going through it all. You can read her extensive obituary online, quite the woman!

Morning volunteer work at the visitor kiosk where I greeted retired IBMers who had worked at the lab where I had worked in California and also a couple from Montpellier France where I had lived!

A busy day on the Douglas highway with heaps of roadworks and the annual marathon, in the pouring rain! Fun time visiting several open houses then stop at Jerry's to fetch some fresh salmon, although no more king, just sockeye!

Morning volunteer work at the Salvation Army then afternoon walk with hiking friend who just returned from spinal surgery in Seattle and is doing very well after two weeks.

Morning yoga with Carol then collect more donations from my friend who is cleaning out her home so that I can take them to Salvation Army tomorrow.

Fetch my new spectacles at Costco then more research with my friend at the House of Wickersham. Afternoon meeting with the house owner's son in law and a contractor to get the house ready for sale next year.

We planned to have lunch with our friend Judy at the Riverview Senior Center but Judy decided that she did not want to have lunch, so we had the fish sandwich, then met with Judy in her room after lunch for a great visit.

Research at the State Historical Library/Archives with my friend from the House of Wickersham. She is from Texas and has been volunteering during summers for the past ten years with accommodation provided on the second floor.

Washed my car then hiked up Eaglecrest ski area where they have now developed several mountain bike trails. There is also a zipline primarily used by visitors off the cruise ships. It was initially developed by locals in 2006 with a pause during covid and is now run by a company out of Ketchikan Kawanti.

Morning drizzle then sun for hike up Salmon Creek trail, the upper trail to the dam is closed due to recent mudslide from all the rain. Home to mow the lawn before the rains return.

Rains have returned and several websites down due to CrowdStrike software update. Morning volunteer work at the Salvation Army.

After several days of heavy rain, the sun has returned, gorgeous morning for walkabout on Treadwell trails then downtown for potential rental viewing (but not for me) and visit with Mary Kay at House of Wickersham and folks at Last Chance Mining Museum.

And more heavy rain! Decided to get the latest pneumonia jab, last one I had was 2016, and I may have had pneumonia when I first arrived Juneau.

Another day of heavy rain causing mudslides downtown and the channel waters to turn very brown, the waterfalls are gorgeous and the creeks are running very high!

A very wet and windy day for our hike on the Mendenhall Wetlands! Then helped a friend who has lived in her home for a long time (she and her husband built their log home over fifty years ago) move items from her home to my car to take to Salvation Army. Then hot dog and chips at the community picnic further out the road at Amalga, great chat with a woman I have not seen in a few years.

And the rains continue! Morning volunteer work at the Salvation Army sorting and pricing donations and putting them on the shelves of the shop. Halibut lunch with friends at the Sandbar and great conversation.

Second try to meet realtor for viewing of home rental then chat with neighbors who are hiking friends. Evening potluck and pulled pork and chicken at Glacier Gardens for the tourism volunteers.

Spent afternoon waiting for realtor to show me a rental house but she did not show due to family emergency and claimed she was out of telephone range, so we finally connected and will try again tomorrow. On my drive to visit my storage unit, I almost ran into a bear crossing the road, he did not look where he was going! My Florida friends returned home, just in time for the end of sun here and the rains have returned.

After almost one year and four visits to the Honda dealer, they finally found the reason for my check engine light (P0455). It appears that the evap canister purge valve was failing and now needs replacing, but of course, have to wait for order of part and another visit to the dealer!

Gorgeous sunny day for hike on Perseverance Trail with Kim. Then visit to Sheep Creek to watch the spawning salmon.

So nice to be so close to the hiking trails, walked down the hill for walkabout at Treadwell. Dinner with my Florida friends at Salt.  Great to see a woman who had also owned my home on the hill before me, she had helped me with my research on its history.

Too rainy a day to hike up the mountain on slippery boards so did a walkabout downtown, missed the First Friday last eve so visited galleries today instead. Picked some rhubarb in a friend's backyard then cooked a nice sauce for my yogurt.
