Another day of rest to recover from tooth extraction so decided to sit by the pool on this sunny day.

Morning appointment with periodontist for extraction/bone graft of #14 which I did in a half sleep with help of drugs, then slept most of afternoon.
29 March 2023 Wednesday - Largo Florida
Morning walk on the beach then coffee and homemade muffin at local coffee shop then visit with mum at rehab. Evening meal with ladies from the neighborhood.

Morning walk at Botanical Gardens then afternoon massage.

Morning walk at Botanical Gardens then visit with mum at rehab facility

Morning walk at Eagle Lake then visit with mum at rehab facility.

Morning walk at Boca Ciega park then walkabout at the local flea market in the parking lot of the recreation center, nothing I needed...then visit with mum. They moved her yesterday from alf to rehab. Then visit to crafts fair at local church where neighbor is selling her homemade cards.

Morning walkabout at Botanical Gardens, gorgeous sunny day. Cleaning day, vacuum house and clean toilets and shower, scrub back porch stoop, change hvac air filter, change baking soda in fridge, new batteries for mouse in mum's computer, and learn about navigation system on my Honda.

Washed my car, pollen here is horrible! Time at the pool but too cold to swim at 70 degrees. Walk to eyeglass shop to fetch spectacles. Organize my maps for travel.

Morning appointment at dentist for cleaning and scan followup for procedure done last October. Homemade pasta dinner with friends and I brought dessert, several flavors of non dairy ice cream.

Morning walkabout at Botanical Gardens then on a mission to find storage bins that fit in back of car, after several stops, finally found the ones I wanted at Home Depot. Visit to thrift shop at local church, only open on Tuesday morning, and again found a cotton tshirt in bright color! Assist one of condo board members in getting documents uploaded.

Happy Spring! Very cold for morning walkabout at Largo Nature Preserve, but sunny. Then visit to library to fetch book from new mystery writer. A friend from Alaska travelled from Santa Fe to Tucson last week for the mystery writers conference and this author won top prize.

Joined the volkswalk group for walkabout of historic Kenwood neighborhood with bungalows constructed between 1912 and 1945 on tree-lined brick avenues. We also enjoyed the sixth annual Artist Studio Tour. And then a visit to the famous Mazzaro's Italian Market.

Power outage for three hours to do grid improvements so spent time at the pool. Afternoon planning my journey starting in April.

Firstly, a much needed wash for my pollen covered car! Then two and half mile loop walk at Fickett Hammock Preserve (heaps of singing birds)....then visit with Alaskan friends camped here in their RV.
8 March 2023 Wednesday - Brooksville Florida (52 miles)
Morning two mile loop walk around Lake McKethan in the Withlacoochee Forest where I almost got 'run over' by a couple of deer! Then visit to the Withlacoochee State Forest visitor center. Stopped at Lake Lindsey 'Mall' and Deli which is really just a very old general store with a bunch of old guys sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch solving all the world's problems. Drove Snow Hill Road to an elevation of 275' to find the highest winery in the state with beautiful views.
7 March 2023 Tuesday - Brooksville Florida (21 miles)
Walkabout of downtown Brooksville, I have passed through this town many times and now was time to stop and explore. The town is named for US Rep Preston Brooks who bludgeoned an abolitionist senator in Congress with a cane in 1856. Some great murals and historical architecture all over town. Met a woman at the Woman's Club who is very active with saving the seas movement, great chat. Then met a man at a local shop who provided much more information than the visitor center personnel. He shared with me the history of UFOs in this area (John Reeves befriended and travelled with aliens in the 1960s), the ghosts of the May Stringer home (which I did visit but met no ghosts), the highest winery (which I also did visit). This man has lived here for 45 years and has never seen so much growth as in recent years, 42000 new homes planned for this county. Visited Railroad Museum at the abandoned train depot.

Driving the backroads with stop at Sleepy Hollow Fish Camp and Flying Eagle Park. The folks at the fish camp were recovering from the previous evening memorial gathering for their friend who recently died from injuries in airboat accident in which he was the pilot.
5 March 2023 Sunday - Largo to Brooksville Florida (99 miles)
Morning drive north with short hike on Cypress Lakes Preserve trail (heaps of 'knees' in the swamp) and visit to Silver Lake Recreation Area on the Withlacoochee River, many weekend bikers on the the Withlacoochee trail.

Morning walk on the beach but did not realize that red tide had returned along with several dead fish. So the nostrils are not only irritated by the heavy yellow pollen but also the algae in the air, but I survived! Great coffee and homemade muffin at the local coffee shop. Evening meal of veal piccata at TJs Italian Indian Rocks with neighbor ladies.
