28 March 2022 Monday - Lakeland Florida
Morning hike at Circle B Bar Reserve on Lake Hancock, a former cattle ranch and known for its very large alligators and large alligator population, that sometime cross the hiking trails, although the only ones I saw were in the water. Also known for its birds, of which I saw many, plus heaps of folks with cameras and very large lenses. Unfortunately the Nature Discovery Center is closed on Mondays.
27 March 2022 Sunday - Lakeland Florida
Heaps of walking today from 8-3! Morning walk at Lake Hollingsworth then joined tour of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings on Florida Southern Methodist College campus which included interior of Usonian house and two chapels. After tour, walked to Polk Art Museum then walkabout of downtown Lakeland and Lake Mirror and Lake Morton to view the many swans (white and black) and many other birds. A pair of royal white mute swans were donated by Queen Elizabeth in 1957.
Florida Southern Methodist College has the largest collection of buildings on one site designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on scenic Lake Hollingsworth, and it is not a well known destination. And in such a flat state, the campus is on a hill (80'). It was built between 1941 and 1958, mostly by college students, and one building only by females because of the war.
The exhibits at the Polk Art Museum included that of the Highwaymen, black artists of the 1950's, and unique photography exhibit of Peter Menzel: Hungry Planet What the World Eats and Material World A Global Family Portrait.

Walk with the local AVA volkswalk group at Lake Parker then a Take Me Out to the Ballgame hotdog lunch since Tiger spring training field is just across the street, and heaps of traffic arriving as we departed for their game today with the Phillies. I was quite familiar with the spring training in the southwest because it was always a challenge to find accommodation in the spring but did not realize that it had originated in Florida.

Decided to take another short road trip for our walkabout tomorrow.

Met local Volksport walkers at Campbell Park for walkabout downtown St Petersburg enjoying all the colorful mural artwork. The Shine St Pete Mural Festival is held every October.

Morning visit to our mother's Elks Lodge on the beach to donate her treasure trove of history when she was President of Ladies of the Elks.
7 March 2022 Monday - Largo Florida
Morning walkabout of the neighborhood then spent time setting up software to link pc to new tv.
6 March 2022 Sunday - Largo Florida
Morning walkabout at Taylor Park where I saw an alligator swimming then stocking up at grocery store, afternoon visit to Best Buy to finally purchase a decent television.

Record high today at 89, since 1961. Drove neighbor to get her hair done and ended up getting a haircut also! Walked the bridge to Indian Rocks Beach Historical Museum.

Morning walkabout of the neighborhood then visit to Home Depot for purchase of wire shelf to organize my closet. Afternoon visit to local RV dealer.
