Spent most of day moving tables and shelves to set up for tomorrow garage sale with a break for lunch at the Baranof with the Main Street ladies (we do this every last Friday of the month).

Happy sunny and warm Memorial Day! Attended services at the Evergreen Cemetery downtown and as always, met several friends whom I have known over the years.

My mission this summer is to reduce what I have stowed in my storage unit, which is not only excess stuff but excess paper. So focusing this week on excess stuff because a friend is having a garage sale next weekend so hope to sell a few items. Met with Laurie for whom I will housesit for a week starting Wednesday and feed her 14 year old cat Lizzie.

Spent morning cleaning the Woolly Bear Suite for Katy and Dan then moved out to 19 mile to a friend's home on the water at Tee Harbor where I have stayed in the past.

Another sunny day for walkabout. My friend got her Roadtrek fixed so now I have her car again.

A day to run errands with my newly acquired/borrowed car but then the owner had problems with her Roadtrek so met her at the local shopping mall to return her car to her.

Crystal clear morning but then the clouds rolled in for an overcast day. Marcia and her friend Margaret visiting from Oregon picked me up and we first went downtown to see the biggest ship in port, Ovation of the Sea, along with the four other ships in Juneau today. Then to the end of the road in Thane then across the bridge to Douglas to view the ships from across the channel then out the road to the Arboretum for Primrose Day and some snacks. I then dropped Marcia and Margaret at Marcia's home because I will be using her car while they travel in her Roadtrek on the ferry to Skagway then south to Oregon.

Since my van is in Phoenix, I have no car, so have been taking the bus and doing heaps of walking. Visited State Museum today where the summer exhibit is great, done by Ray Troll and Kirk Johnson, and depicted in their book Cruisin' the Fossil Coastline: Travels of an Artist and a Scientist

Drove over forty miles one way to the other side of Phoenix to visit a friend in Mesa, heaps of roadworks on I10 and traffic, especially for the return which took almost two hours!

Overcast warm day in low 90's vs high 90's so did early morning hike at White Tank Mountain Regional Park. Beautiful blooms on the cactus and trees, petroglyphs on the rocks, and saw three young mule deer....also saw gila monster but not in the wild but at the nature center!

A sad day for my mother because her friend Honey passed away. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago but had been doing better when I saw her earlier this year but just a few weeks ago she took a turn for the worse finding that the cancer had spread throughout her body. My mother has a car but does not drive and Honey had no car so she and my mother would do shopping and eating out together, she will be missed.
