Last day of the year and a warm one! Morning workout at the gym and then a swim in the pool at my mother's where the water temperature has gone from 59 last week to 71 degrees today.

Drove my van to local automotive shop for valve gasket work but decided to not have them do work for such a small oil leak. Before making that decision, I left the van at the shop and walked the one mile to LA Fitness then the two miles back to my mother's home then the guys at the the shop picked me up for me to fetch my van.

Happy Solstice! A very windy day for taking mum to the beach to get her hairs done....even the Skyway Bridge is closed with 78 mph winds.

Big storms with tornadoes that did heaps of damage east of here. I visited the Family History Library at the local Mormon Church for research and to catch up with friends who I see every year that work there.

Rains have stopped but overcast and cold. Morning visit to service station for oil change then workout at the gym and shopping for veggies at Earthfare. I do like LA Fitness gym location over the Y, which is further away and not within walking distance of organic food market.

Morning walk then time at the pool in the sunshine but water is only 63 degrees. Found the strangest spider weaving a web on my mother's veranda, a spinybacked orbweaver or crab spider.

More torrential rain and wind for a not very nice drive south on route 19! My van turned 202000.

2 December 2018 Sunday - Daphne Alabama to Tallahassee Florida (219 miles)
Weather forecast looked okay until I reached mid Florida panhandle where there was a sign that said severe weather watch use caution (and lightening visible in the distance) and then about ten miles later the rain came down and there was zero visibility, the worst part being that the car in front of me just stopped with no warning nor flashing lights, but I recovered just fine. All a bit scary but only lasted a few miles. Amazing to see all the devastation from Hurricane Michael, downed and uprooted trees, very damaged signs and x132 rest area closed because the building was badly damaged. My rain storm experience was mild compared to the hurricane!

1 December 2018 Saturday - Denham Springs LA to Daphne Alabama (182 miles)
I was concerned with the predicted tornado and high wind but today was just rain and heavy fog which has now turned into flood watch but I should still be okay. Lovely room top floor with balcony overlooking D'Olive/Mobile Bay. Walked Gator Alley boardwalk about one mile to Fresh Market for fresh veggies.
