While hiking in Juneau last summer, I met some folks from Florida who were staying at my friend's B&B....and found that they live just a few blocks from my mother! So Kim and I connected and hiked at Brooker Creek Preserve in Tarpon Springs today....then took the slow road back via the historic Sponge Docks and the coast and stopped at Friendly's Tavern for fish lunch.

Merry Christmas eve!
It has been a very busy almost three weeks taking care of mum and getting organized for my travels. I did apply online and receive a free 30 day pass to the local gym so am happy to be getting my workout and also walking the neighborhood.

Will be busy the next few weeks taking mother to doctor appointments and shopping!

Car washing is allowed on Saturdays so washed my van.....then spent some time at the pool in the sunshine.....so glad not to be in all the cold and storm of the north.
6 December 2013 Friday - Parrish to Seminole FL
Decided to head to mum's cos all the state parks are full on weekends!
5 December 2013 Thursday - Lake Kissimmee to Little Manatee River State Park FL
Stopped at Lake Wales for visit to Spook Hill and Bok Tower then short visit to Alafia State Park which has no trees so continued on to Little Manatee River....and a frog/toad gave me a fright when what I thought was a bar of soap in the tray in the shower was not a bar of soap when it jumped out at me!
4 December 2013 Wednesday - Oak Hill to Lake Kissimmee FL
Morning walk at Seminole Rest then decided to just head inland because the beaches are so busy....great overnight stay at Lake Kissimmee State Park which was only about half full with fairly spacious campsites. Heaps of wildlife.....armadillo, deer, squirrels.....
3 December 2013 Tuesday - Ormond Beach to Oak Hill FL
Overnight at small campground on Indian River.....beach state parks are already full!
2 December 2013 Monday - St Augustine to Ormond Beach FL
So good to be warm again....visiting aunt and uncle in Ormond Beach.
1 December 2013 Sunday - Savannah GA to St Augustine FL
Visiting friend that I knew in San Francisco in the 1970's!
