Happy New Year!
Plans for the new year are to celebrate mum's 85th birthday in Florida on 23 January, attend a Roadtrek Rally 1-4 February in Orlando, then slowly head west for ferry to Juneau at end of April.
31 January 2011 Monday (Winter Garden FL)
Spent most of day at Leisure Time RV to have a checkup done on all my house stuff on the Roadtrek. Met other RT owners having work done: Len from Delaware and Sylvia and Stan from Georgia. They did find a few leaks in some of my hoses so will return on Friday to complete the work...also to get a new microwave installed since mine has not worked for several months!
30 January 2011 Sunday (Largo/Seminole to Orlando FL)
Departing mum's today (returning next weekend before journey westward) for Orlando and the Roadtrek Rally....should be about 100 rigs there (too many for me but must try this thing at least once).

Finally a warm day with sunshine....so worked on my tan at the pool after my last workout at the local gym!

Health Fair at the local community center with heaps of freebies! Warm sun at the pool but cool breeze!

Another free lunch! Enjoyed great salmon lunch at Bonefish Grill thanks to Moss Feaster Funeral Home.....all you had to do was listen to their forty minute presentation.....which was quite useful, actually.
Now tornado and storm warnings for the area this afternoon and this evening.

Clear and freezing today! We took mum out to breakfast on her birthday today and they surprised her with yet another piece of cake....I will be glad when all this birthday celebration is over because I have probably gained several pounds with all this cake consumption! My sister and her daughter fly back to Cary NC this afternoon.

The sun is back but it is cold and windy....we spent less than an hour by the pool then gave up and returned to the house to get warm. Birthday dinner at the Wine Cellar this evening with Baked Alaska for dessert!

Heaps of rain so not a day to lay by the pool so my sister and her daughter and I did some shopping. Mum cooked a delicious pot roast for dinner and an ice cream cake for dessert.

My sister and her daughter from Cary NC fly in this evening for the weekend birthday festivities for mum....more fog today!
19 January 2011 Wednesday (Ormond Beach to Largo/Seminole FL 172 miles)
On our return trip we stopped to visit another uncle and his girlfriend at a timeshare near Orlando called Polynesian Isles. His wife, who is now deceased, was my father's sister. We had a great lunch followed by another surprise birthday cake for my mother....not helping her much with her diabetes diet!

Overnight road trip with mum to visit my aunt and uncle (my father's brother) at Ormond Beach near Daytona on the east coast of Florida....and they surprised my mother with a birthday cake for dessert after our wonderful dinner!

MLK holiday and all the parades were cancelled here because the weather was so bad....heavy rain and wind and thunder and lightning! I still cannot believe the news of Tunisia where I visited just a few months ago.

Joined a couple of friends for lunch at Wat Mongkolratanaram Temple near Tampa. Every Sunday is an open air market with fresh Thai dishes and seating on picnic tables along the Palm River. I had a heaping serving of Pad Thai and Ginger Chicken for just five bucks!

Heaps of rain and thunder and lightning last evening but now the sun is peeking out through the clouds. What I do miss most in my peripatetic lifestyle is my workout routine at the gym, so I found a YMCA nearby where I will go everyday for the next few weeks while I am visiting with mum!

The sun is shining and it is warm so am enjoying both by the pool although not going for a swim just yet since the water temp is 49 degrees F!
The sun is back but it is cold and windy....we spent less than an hour by the pool then gave up and returned to the house to get warm. Birthday dinner at the Wine Cellar this evening with Baked Alaska for dessert!
