Walk to Walgreens for covid booster jab then put clean sheets back on the van bed and do a bit of cleaning

Morning walkabout at Taylor Park then visit with mum at alf. Tried again to visit Seminole Museum but closed at 1010 even though advertised open on Thursday at 10am...contacted person when I returned home and they claimed that they did arrive late! They are only open two days per week for three hours, you would think that they would show up on time!

Morning walk in dark at Taylor Park then visit with mum at ALF. Afternoon entertainment in complex of water pipe leak repair (damage caused by tree roots) and the downing of the poinciana that caused the problem.

20 October 2021 Wednesday - Largo Florida
Morning walk to library, post office, consignment stores then visit to funeral home to prepay cremation. Afternoon zoom class on old newspapers which was interrupted by me getting my car to the mechanic for him to fix gas fuel tank filler hose, which rotted in just one and one half year.

My van has had strong gasoline fumes when I gas up so drove it down to mechanic and walked the three miles back with stop at Starbucks, which I have not done in a very long time. So strange, because it is empty, and the priority for wait staff is for the drive up and not the walk up customers! Found that the gas filler fuel hose that was installed only 1.5 years ago is rotten and that is why the fumes.....now must do online order and wait.

Morning walkabout then borrowed office shredder to shred mum's old bills then a swim in the pool. Neighbor fetched our mother's old apartment fridge which I unplugged 1.5 years ago.

Morning walkabout then the van wash guy finally showed up this time, even five minutes early. I have not had success in getting my van washed with the local mobile units here, very lazy young folks these days!

7 October 2021 Thursday - Largo Florida
Morning walkabout then a day of errands, first to storage unit to continue my unpacking of boxes, then to Spectrum to exchange old modem/router for newer model then home to install. Afternoon to Best Buy to buy a new tablet since my old one of four years is dying...devices these days have such a short life!

Morning walk with neighbor then appointment with HVAC guy for twice yearly maintenance then seafood lunch on the beach with "the girls".

Morning walk at the Botanical Gardens then visit with mum outside at the alf since indoor visitation not allowed due to active covid case.

3 October 2021 Sunday - Okeechobee to Largo Florida (143 miles)
Returned via the slow road route 70 west, then quite busy traffic when I arrived on the interstate north.

2 October 2021 Saturday - Okeechobee Florida
Shopping (and heaps of walking) at both of the two weekend flea markets (Trading Post and Big-O)...the Great American Florida Gun Show is also happening this weekend at the KOA Convention Center but gave that one a miss! Last walk on the dike trail at the lake then delicious lunch at Lightsey's Seafood...alligator, cooter (freshwater turtle), catfish, frog legs and catnip (their specialty). Lightsey's started small back in the 1970's on the Kissimmee River and many folks miss the atmosphere of that location...they are now located in town in a former bank building where the back teller lanes have been converted into an outdoor patio. Their motto is 'if it swims, crawls or hops in Florida, they serve it'

1 October 2021 Friday - Okeechobee Florida
Morning walk about the town of Okeechobee with great lunch at Nutmeg Cafe then exploring the diversity of shops on their Main Street along Flagler Park: Elliott Pawn Shop, Hippie Daze (grand opening today with a throwback to days gone by), Unique Boutique thrift shop, old time pharmacy, Brown Cow Sweetery, Army Surplus...plus many women's clothing stores.....and many murals on the outside business walls. Okeechobee County is the largest cattle and calf producing county in the state of Florida.
