April 2017 - Juneau Alaska

27 April 2017 Thursday - Juneau Alaska
The heavy rains and wind have returned....yuck! Most unfortunate though because I am housesitting a B&B across the bridge.....not worth the move over so am walking over to spend the night.

26 April 2017 Wednesday - Juneau Alaska
Another sunny warm day for a seven mile hike along the beaches near Cowee Creek at 39 mile out the road.

24 April 2017 Monday - Juneau Alaska
Juneau is definitely not the place I moved to 35 years ago! Crime is rampant because of increased drug use, drones are peering into windows of homes and arson is everywhere.....someone just set fire to the childrens playground at Twin Lakes....totally destroyed at quarter million dollars!

22 April 2017 Saturday - Juneau Alaska
Beautiful sunny warm day for hike out Perseverance Trail but did not make it to the end because there is still deep snow further out the trail.

21 April 2017 Friday - Juneau Alaska
A drive out to the University where in days past I would do all my free printing.....but no longer.....they now charge for all printing and you must do it to a credit card!

20 April 2017 Thursday - Juneau Alaska
IBMer lunch reunion at el Sombrero because our friend Judy is visiting from Washington State where they moved about ten years ago.

19 April 2017 Wednesday - Juneau Alaska
Cloud, rain and snow for our hike to Salmon Creek Dam.....may only make it to the Powerhouse because of ice and snow still on the trail.

18 April 2017 Tuesday - Juneau Alaska
I have connected with a woman in my great grandfathers homeland of Alfta Sweden. She is chairperson of the Heritage Association of the village and knows so much about the history of my mother's family. I told her that I was thinking of a visit and she wants to honour me and present to me my family's story. A sister of my great grandfather was a famous photographer.

15 April 2017 Saturday - Juneau Alaska
Morning sun but afternoon cloud and evening rain. Spent most of day in our training session for volunteers in tourism learning about the various tours available this summer.

12 April 2017 Wednesday - Juneau Alaska
Wonderful hike in the sunshine near Eagle Beach/Boy Scout Camp at 26 mile then a visit to the Jensen-Olson Arboretum to view the new spring flowers.

6 April 2017 Thursday - Juneau Alaska
Morning flight with Alaska Seaplanes in Cessna 206 to Tenakee Springs to visit my former neighbors on Main Street, Leba and Roger. They moved out of Juneau to Tenakee in 1994 then also bought property in Mexico. We have stayed in touch over the years but they have since sold some of their property in Mexico and stay in Tenakee because Leba is getting a bit forgetful....but she did remember me and we had a great day together.....and I had time for a soak in the hot baths!

1 April 2017 Saturday - Juneau Alaska
The genealogy group at the local LDS is open first and third Saturday so will meet with Teresa there today.
