Happy Halloween! The World Champion Giants had big ticker tape parade in San Francisco with many follow-on activities at the Civic Plaza downtown.....and the rains have held off for the celebration.....cooler and very heavy overcast today.
30 October 2012 Tuesday (Lake Berryessa to Hidden Valley CA)
Drove Knoxville Road/Morgan Valley Road from Lake Berryessa to Lower Lake through Napa then Lake County.....small winding road with heaps of ruts through dry stream beds (impassable during the wet). Passed the now closed Homestake mining property. Overnight with Belinda who I met at a Roadtrek gathering in Amado AZ in 2010....she now owns a home here.

Short drive from Pleasure Cove to Chaparral Cove on Lake Berryessa......afternoon hike then enjoyed the sunset and full moonrise over the lake. This area had many homes on the lake at one time but when their 99 year lease ran out, the federal government kicked them out.....looks like a ghost town with remnants of housing that still remain.

Another gorgeous autumn day in California......getting ready for travels to Australia....unfortunately, I sent my passport to Ghana Embassy for a visa for my travel in March and it has been two weeks and has yet to be returned.....now I am in panic mode because no one in DC at the Ghana Embassy answers the phone nor replies to emails! And I need my passport to board the plane for Oz!

Drove to Dodge dealer in Gilroy even though now the check engine light is off and he did see a misfire in cylinder 8 but he has no openings until next Tuesday.....so will continue to drive....back to enjoy nature and wildlife at Joseph Grant County Park.

Flight from RDU to SFO to fetch my van and enjoy camping again! Unfortunately, they checked my bag at the gate because they were overbooked and claimed that they had no room for overhead bags....but when I boarded, I found plenty of room! This meant that I was delayed catching public transport and had to wait an extra hour for my train....then started my van and the check engine light came on again....yuk! But decided to camp a few nights anyway at Joseph Grant and read my mail that I fetched from Annette enroute and file paperwork and unpack/repack for Oz and take a nice walk after the morning rain.

Drove my sister to her school so that I would have wheels.....Cody Simpson (Australia teen star) is performing at her school this afternoon!

Morning church service at Peak United Methodist in Apex where my sister's son is the pastor. Lunch with all the family then afternoon at the gym.....new pain in my neck so instead of afternoon class, I did the wet sauna and hot tub and pool.

Morning yoga at my sister's son's church then soccer with the grandkids then Raleigh Farmers Market then drive to Youngsville to visit my sister's husband's mum and sister for afternoon of fishing at the pond.....great spider and web outside her living room window......maybe an orb weaver? I caught the web spinning on video!

No Trader Joes in Florida so off this morning to shop at Trader Joes down the road then to my sister's gym for a workout. My brotherinlaw watches the grandkids on Wednesdays so they will keep us busy this afternoon!

Visited the new Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport with wonderful highlights tour with Gene and then iMax film.
After arriving to hot and humid weather, it is quite cooler today and raining! First to visit Rick in Linden before returning to stay with Ron and Trish in Opal.

Free pass to the gym then walkabout Fairfax town and more afternoon sessions on the newest offerings at the university, such as forensics! More walking on the campus for the football game and visit to the swim meet at the huge Aquatics Center. Evening session on the history of Mason with new website (use tags to find specific topics):

Two nights at Mason Inn on the campus of George Mason University for alumni weekend event. I arrived as Obama was departing....he spoke at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall this morning. I attended afternoon tour of the campus......huge......with 33000 students (and 122000 alumni).
