31 October 2010 (Tunis Tunisia)
Happy Halloween although not here.....saw the new Explore tour off this morning....another 16 folks to enjoy the 12 day tour....mostly pommes but one woman from Brisbane Australia so passed on my last book The Robber Bride!
30 October 2010 (Hammamet to Tunis Tunisia)
On bus back to Tunis...about one hour drive....
29 October 2010 (Hammamet Tunisia)
Met a couple from London that are here with Saga Tours and another man from the UK who is planning to retire to this area....then a wonderful foot massage for almost one hour which my feet were so happy for after doing so much walking these past few weeks.
28 October 2010 Thursday (Hammamet Tunisia)
I moved hotels today because it appears that the Hotel Almaz did not pay their electric bill (no lights and no hot water and no lift and no tv (even though no english channels))...now at Green Golf Hotel where many UK folks stay since this is the first time that I have seen a shop sell newspapers in English...plus the TV has both BBC news and Euro news in English! Sunshine in the morning but afternoon clouds and much cooler. This area of Hammamet called Yasmine is a Las Vegas/Disneyland wannabe!
26 October 2010.... the driver of our tour drove me the one hour south to Hammamet which is on the coast...nice beaches and hotels with pools but the weather has turned cooler....but no rain as of yet.....will hang out here a few days before taking ferry to Marseilles France (with a Tunisian boat since who knows with the strikes in France if their boat will be running)
25 October 2010....just returned to Tunis after spending the past 11 days with 14 other folks mostly from UK and Canada travelling around the country of Tunisia....a wonderful adventure.
15-26 October 2010
I have booked a trip with http://www.explore.co.uk/ for a twelve day trip through Tunisia....Jan booked her return for 19 October so not enough time for her to do the same.
15 October Happy Birthday to me...
14 October tram from Tunis to Sidi Bou Said
13 October walking the medina of Tunis Tunisia
12 October 2010....we will arrive Tunisia approximately 10am
11 October 2010 Monday (Palermo Sicily Italy)
The hotel has given us a room in which to stay until our sailing at midnight....how wonderful since it is now raining off and on!
10 October 2010 Sunday (Palermo Sicily Italy)
More walking around the train station which was very empty on a Sunday and then to Piazza Marina which had a wonderful local market....more like a flea market of old Sicilian stuff. The sun is still shining with clouds but rain is due tomorrow for our evening journey to Tunisia.
9 October 2010 Saturday (Palermo Sicily Italy)
Early morning city busses to visit mosaics of the church in Monreale (about 8km out of Palermo on hill overlooking the city)....just beautiful depictions of the bible.....then return for walk to visit more churches! Unfortunately, the one that we wanted to see is closed because a security conference is being conducted there for the next three days.
8 October 2010 Friday (Palermo Sicily Italy)
We dropped our rental car at the airport then shuttle bus to the city! We found that the bus left us off just a short distance from our hotel Vecchio Borgo near the port for our departure on Monday and near the city center for more exploring.
7 October 2010 Thursday (Cinisi near Palermo Sicily)
Not sure where we will next find internet but plan is to drive to Marsala, Trapani, Erice......and then Palermo....where we stay a few days before taking overnight ferry to Tunis on 11 October! We ended up taking the motorway and stopped to explore the ruins at Segesta before staying overnight near Palermo in a hotel with big veranda overlooking the beach and fishing harbor near Cinisi.
6 October 2010 Wednesday (Agrigento Sicily Italy)
We stayed an extra day in Agrigento by the sea with a pool and free internet....need to get organized for next part of our journey to Tunisia.
5 October 2010 Tuesday (Agrigento Sicily Italy)
About three hour walk through the Greek ruins and then another hour through the museum so decided to stay another day and maybe drive early in the morning tomorrow....plus it was time to relax by the pool in the afternoon sunshine.
4 October 2010 Monday (near Enna to Agrigento Sicily Italy)
...more walking through the ruins in the hills of Aidone and Morgantina.....
3 October 2010 Sunday (Noto to near Enna Sicily Italy)
Found a wonderful masseria (manor farm house) where we enjoyed Sunday brunch with all the Italian families and then overnight in the quiet with the birds.
2 October 2010 Saturday (Acireale to Lido Noto Sicily Italy)
Explored Siracusa and another night on the beach with seafood dinner.
1 October 2010 Friday (Catania Sicily Italy)
Overnighted at hostel in the city...and not much sleep since the bar was just downstairs on one side and the railroad tracks on the other! Walked about 1 1/2 mile to collect rental car but could not easily find our hostel on all the one way streets so just parked and carried our luggage back....drove a few kms north to Acireale and stayed overnight on the beach with great dinner of seafood at Capo Mulino.
